A deep tissue massage uses a fair amount of pressure and slow firm strokes to help reduce and release tension that builds deep down in the muscles of your body.
A deep tissue massage explained
Deep tissue massage is as it says a massage technique that works much deeper layers of muscle tissue.
This is usually combined with a Swedish massage, which unlike other treatments deep uses much slower and firmer strokes, concentrating on various areas across the body, breaking down the tension in the muscle and tendon fibres.
Deep tissue massage is a term that describes a number of different therapies, and is often used medically by chiropractors and physiotherapists.
Deep tissue massage features in most of the massage techniques to some degree, including:
- Swedish massage
- Muscular/Sports massage
- Lymphatic drainage
Deep tissue massage is a particularly effective massage for people who train regular and have muscular pain.
